Welcome to Week 1 of my new Project Blog! The following is a brief overview to catch you up to speed on where I was when I had started this course.
the internship seeking activities you are doing
Currently, I have found an internship, but will be keeping my eyes peeled for more opportunities during the semester! Right now I am focused on wrapping the Project Proposal for the internship I currently have lined up. As I go through it, I will continue to search Indeed and Handshake for more opportunities that suit the obligations of my existing full-time job.
the internship work you are doing
The work I’ll be doing is updating a website for a limousine business. This website has been run and managed for 10 years under the care of my Mom, and while she is tech-savvy, she admits that improvements beyond what is already there from the GoDaddy Sitebuilder WYSIWYG is beyond her capabilities and limited knowledge. So, I will be taking the website to the modern era with a transition to WordPress
the experiences you are having
Overall, I am having a good time discussing the project and it’s finer details in the Project Proposal with Tammy. I’m having a lot of ideas flying through my head about what I could do based on my past projects. But as I know from my time with IMD, it’s better to stick with the script of the Scoring Guide first, then polish to excellence. This is especially important in terms of crucial functionality on the existing site that needs to transition smoothly; therefore my focus will be on migration rather than revitalization.
mini tutorials or examples of work you did
I haven’t started work proper yet, but once I do, I’ll be sure to keep you posted via this blog!
It’s so cool that you can do this for your family member. I hope it goes well! Working with WordPress is super fun, so this must be exciting. Good luck!
Yes, I am excited. I’m much more at ease working with family and especially because they are familiar with the world of web development already, so I think the collaboration and communication should go smoothly. Thank you!
Great job getting your blog up and running with your first posting!
Thank you! 🙂
